Stage Curtain

We produced first a tsuzure-weaving stage curtain, which is a mainstream now, for Asahi-Kaikan in Osaka in 1951. With the integrated system of production from designing, dyeing, preparing of yarn, and weaving to finishing process, we produce stage curtains precisely by frequent communication among staff.

Process

① Fix original painting Fix original paintings reflecting customers' plans.
② Trial weaving Fix the terminal colored yarn, class and weaving structure by trial weaving of one part.
③ Make sketch Sketch is the base for weaving. Craftsmen weave following the sketch under the warp. It is expanded to the finished dimension based on the original painting. Because weaving is carried out from the back side, the sketch having right and left pattern reversed is made.
④ Dyeing Dye with automated injection machines.
⑤ Coloration Coloration is a key point allocating colors to the appropriate place. Duplicate color shade of original paintings by twisting five or six colored yarn.
⑥ Weaving Craftsmen weave all together in a line passing weft through warp. Stage curtains cannot be made perfectly if craftsmen are not in good coordination because it is collaborative work.
After weaving, proceed to finishing.
