Weaving

As a material it is, fabric has a highly artistic side. The moment when a woof (horizontal yarn), enters warp (vertical yarn), the organization creates a three-dimensional strcture with expression. Woven fabric enbodies not only my design but also the sensitivity of the time.
The study of historical patterns and techniques preserved at Kawashima Selkon Textiles Co.,Ltd. formed the basis of my works. Since itA°fs foundation in 1843, Kawashima has paid respect to tradition while continuing to challenge and innovate. The company prides itself on its wide range of business operations and accumlation of cutting edge technology.
This environment enables me to develop fabrics with originality. I want to create fabrics that possess the dual aspects of being both something for quality living as well as a work of art.
